Grade six students have made it through the first quarter of their middle school experience. The first report card can be intimidating for many students. The transition from an elementary report card to the middle school format is just another challenge for students. It is the first time that they are measured by a specific average in each course of study. Please take the time to discuss each class with your child to help him or her learn to monitor his or her own performance. It is a great time to use the report card as a tool to set realistic goals for continuous improvement.
The second quarter will challenge students even more as we work toward the end of the year. If you find your child needs assistance in any subject area, encourage him or her to speak with his or her teacher, utilize the Learning Center, or make an appointment with Mr. Fox to discuss strategies for improvement. Parent-teacher conferences will take place in December, but may also be scheduled at any time during the year by contacting Mr. Fox or your child’s teacher.
If you have any questions, please contact me in the house office at 407-9210 or by email at email@example.com.
