TIES (Together Including Every Student) Program
TIES is a program funded through Starbridge and individual school districts. Our coordinators recruit and train volunteer high school students to be helpers to kids/young adults with developmental disabilities ages 8-21, so that they can participate in any extra-curricular or community activity.
Our volunteers get community service credit in their high schools for their time volunteering with TIES. Our particpants benefit from the opportunity to engage with typical peers while participating in any activity or event that they are interested in (school sports, events, clubs, community dance schools, girl scouts, bowling, swim, gymnastics, Tae Kwon Do, etc...). TIES educated community members, children have the time of their lives, mother are moved to tears of happiness and high school students become so engrossed with helping their participants that they decide to pursue careers in the world of disabilities.
We are always looking for new volunteers to participate in the TIES program.
